About the event

On Tyranny: a Community Discussion

Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking community discussion led by Rand Brandes on On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century by Timothy Snyder. In a time when history feels both distant and urgently present, this conversation invites us to explore the lessons of the past and how they illuminate our current moment.

Together, we’ll reflect on Snyder’s concise yet powerful lessons on the nature of freedom, responsibility, and civic engagement. Through open dialogue, shared perspectives, and mindful inquiry, this gathering creates space for a deeper understanding of democracy and history and of our role.

The discussion will use the graphic edition of On Tyranny as the centerpiece. To get the most out of our community conversation, we encourage you to buy the book, read the book, and bring the book:
